The BIST way
Bringing learning to life
Our teaching, based on the National Curriculum of England and Wales, prepares pupils for life by instilling an informed curiosity and lasting passion for learning.
At our school, we bring learning to life by creating engaging and interactive experiences that encourage pupils to explore, discover, and apply what they have learned. Our curriculum is designed to be relevant, meaningful, and challenging, and is taught in a way that connects pupils to the real world.
A Kind and inclusive culture
At our school, new pupils are welcomed into a warm and inclusive environment that values diversity and promotes kindness. Upon arrival, pupils are paired with a buddy who helps them acclimate to the school culture and introduces them to other pupils. The school also holds social events and activities designed to bring the student body together and foster a sense of community.
English speaking with english support
Pupils learn in English but there is French and Arabic learning support for those who need it. Our bilingual education system ensures that all our pupils have access to the resources they need to succeed, regardless of their language background. Whether they are native speakers of French or Arabic, or are still learning the language, our dedicated support staff are here to help. This creates a inclusive and diverse learning environment, where every pupil feels valued and supported.

Curriculum of England and Wales
BIST follows the curriculum of England and Wales with special attention being given to the diversity and heritage of our location. The curriculum is designed to meet the needs of a diverse range of learners, and provides opportunities for students to explore their interests and talents. By combining rigorous academic study with practical, hands-on experiences, our pupils are able to develop a deep understanding of the subjects they study, and gain valuable skills that will serve them well in the future.
Our teachers have Qualified Teacher Status (UK) and the school is inspected by the framework laid out by the British Government for British Schools Overseas (BSO).
In terms of academics, we follow the English National Curriculum, and are the only school in Tunisia to be accredited by the Council of British International Schools (COBIS). This means your children will receive some of the best education Britain can offer. Each class has a dedicated teacher, educated up to the British standard. We have Tunisian teaching assistants, all with English degrees, to offer additional support to the pupils. Alongside this, there are specialist teachers in multiple subjects, such as the Arts, Computing, French, Arabic and Music.
Each child is supported
The classroom is a child centered environment with lessons tailored to each child’s individual abilities and potential. The teacher, teaching assistant, pupil and families work together to support children while providing the challenges needed for steady development.
The classroom environment encourages collaboration, creativity, and curiosity, fostering a love of learning in each child.
A Holistic Approach
Our school takes a holistic approach to learning, recognizing that education is about more than just academic achievement. This approach considers the whole child, including their emotional, social, and physical well-being, and provides a supportive and nurturing environment where pupils can thrive. Our curriculum is designed to meet the diverse needs and interests of all pupils, and incorporates a range of hands-on and experiential learning opportunities. By taking a holistic approach to learning, our school helps pupils to become well-rounded individuals who are prepared for success in all aspects of their lives.
Exploring Ancient & Modern Tunisia
Our school’s holistic approach to learning is enhanced by its location in Tunisia, a country known for its rich cultural heritage and diverse population. The diverse and inclusive learning environment helps pupils to gain a deeper appreciation of different cultures, perspectives, and ways of life. By studying in Tunisia, our pupils are exposed to a wide range of perspectives, and are able to develop a global mindset that will serve them well in an increasingly interconnected world. The unique cultural experiences offered by our school in Tunisia provide pupils with an education that goes beyond the classroom, and prepares them for success in a diverse and rapidly changing world.
