The BIST way
Bringing learning to life
Our teaching, based on the National Curriculum of England and Wales, prepares students for life by instilling an informed curiosity and lasting passion for learning.
Through combined hard work with children, teachers and parents, we help open doors to the world’s best universities – in the UK, the US, and beyond. We offer programs that take students on a journey through the UK National Curriculum in Early Years, Primary and Secondary.
A culture of inclusivity and kindness
Students can join at any age from three and are always made to feel welcome by the school’s warm atmosphere and the kindness of others.
BIST is at the heart of the international community and children are used to playing and learning with others from diverse backgrounds. It never takes long here to settle in.
English speaking with english support
Students learn in English but there is French and Arabic learning support for those who need it. We believe no child should be left behind.

Curriculum of England and Wales
BIST follows the curriculum of England and Wales with special attention being given to the diversity and heritage of our location.
This approach offers a culturally fulfilling experience within Tunisia, while allowing pupils to adjust easily if transferring to other British schools, either in the UK or elsewhere.
Moreover, since our teachers have Qualified Teacher Status (UK) and the school is inspected by the framework laid out by the British Government for British Schools Overseas (BSO), they can be confident of achieving levels that meet internationally recognised standards.
In terms of academics, we follow the English National Curriculum, and are the first school in Tunis to be accredited by the Council of British International Schools (COBIS). This means your children will receive some of the best education Britain can offer. Each class has a dedicated teacher, educated up to the British standard. We have Tunisian teaching assistants, all with English degrees, to offer additional support to the pupils. Alongside this, there are specialised teachers in multiple subjects, such as Art, Computing, Languages (French and Arabic) and Music.
Each child is supported
The classroom is a child centered environment with lessons tailored to each child’s individual abilities and potential. The teacher, teaching assistant, pupil and families work together to support children while providing the challenges needed for steady development.
A Holistic Approach
Our focus extends beyond the academic to include social skills, behavioral principles, a healthy outlook and creative expression, in a holistic approach.
Our aim is to create world citizens, confident wherever they go, always open to acquiring new knowledge as positive seekers of experience, ready to meet the challenges of the modern era.
Exploring Ancient & Modern Tunisia
We welcome people of all nations and backgrounds and strongly believe that a school thrives most by engaging with its local community to celebrate the rich historical, cultural and social resources to be found on our doorstep.
Tunisia offers many opportunities to develop an understanding of place and history, both ancient and modern with many archaelogical sites and places to visit.
We will always strive to be a school that builds bridges, fosters understanding and brings about positive change in the lives of people both within and beyond our own community.
